Shan Howells

Shan is an illustrator based in Bridgend, South Wales. Primarily working with digital illustrations, with a touch of home made traditional textures. Their works regularly include warm and vivid colour pallets, to bring a feeling of coziness to each piece.

While the art is mainly created digitally through drawing softwares, the textures are from photographs. Photography is a big but unseen part of their creative practice, from textures to composition of some illustrations. Living in a small town, nature has always been very near and involved within Shan's practice, including colour pallets and the theme of coziness a lot of their works have.

The bulk of their work is focused within character design and character creation, with a lot of inspiration from media as they have a love for animation and film. This also being said, they also create a lot of fanart on their socials.

Shan is currently exploring sapphic and LGBTQ+ themes within a Welsh and their own context, mainly being displayed through a few self published and community digital / traditional zines. This includes an illustration and a mini comic on an early childhood memory.

Being actively involved with a few community arts projects and events, they are gradually releasing online through sketches and final works.

On social media Shan shares their current projects under the name Shan H Creates (also known by ADinoCreates).
