Alisha Ahmed

Born in Italy, but of Egyptian heritage, Alisha [she/they] is a fat, queer non-binary, autistic immigrant of colour living in Wales. They spent the last 3 decades writing about her experiences at the intersection of the systems of power with an intimist perspective.
Over the last years, Alisha has turned to spoken word performances, taking excerpts from their diary that demonstrate the curiosity of a neuro divergent mind trying to make its way through the quagmire of neurotypical societal expectations.Their activism spans from organizing fundraisers in support of BLM, Mermaids, Refugees and Palestine to active member of Glitter Cymru where they are now the Training and Education Lead on all Intersectionality Matters.
Alisha’s artistic practice is eclectic including written poetry, spoken word, collage work, always steeped in Intersectional theory, which can be seen in their online content which also includes Educational Video essays that, beginning from common pop and media culture, aim to share with people ways to develop Media Literacy and Critical Thinking.
They began to perform at spoken word events in 2022 sharing part of their life work which includes poems and diaries that span over 3 decades. They have Performed at Big Queer Picnic, Queer Words II by Queerdos, Howling at the Moon, Gorsedd Mabon 2023 and have held creative writing workshops to discuss and share their unique artistic style with others to promote and champion the voices of other marginalised people and their importance in creative a more equitable world
in 2024 they were chosen as one of 10 artists to be part of the Queering Wales, Connecting people Project by On Your Face Collective, Elysium Gallery and Glyn Vivian Gallery.
Along with their life and artistic partner, Raven Gough, they won the So Strong Seed commission on sharing their vision about queer rural life in Wales which focused on audio-visual art pieces.
in 2024 they launched the project #WitchesForPalestine which brings together the online Pagan community in support of Medical Aid for Palestinians and the mutual aid group Cwtches to Gaza. They have previously raised funds for Black Lives Matter, Mermaids UK and British Red Cross Miles for Refugees.
In 2025 their art piece “All Money is Blood”, a mixed media collage built around a poem they wrote of the same title, was part of the QUNX x Dyddiau Du x PWSH “Queer Futures” exhibition.
